I personally tested this recipe multiple times with the masa. In the original test, I loved the beef ratio of 1 pound and actually had half the measurements for the masa topping. I loved the ratio but it barely was enough to cover the beef and so I ultimately decided to double the masa to make spreading easier. For anyone out there who would like to make this recipe in a deeper baking dish, such as a Dutch oven, you should absolutely consider doubling the beef (so 2 pounds) and then go ahead and double the seasoning as well. I think anyone would be happy with that result.]]></description>

Could thereI have been a typo in the amount of masa for the topping?  2 cups made a LOT of topping for a very small layer of filling. I would at least double the filling. I noticed that the cornbread recipe only called for 1/2 cup cornmeal as opposed to 2 cups for the masa recipe. I honestly loved the topping, but it was too much for the ratio.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[made it with chorizo instead, and put the cheese layered on top of the chorizo after it was done cooking instead of in the masa.  it was delightful! not sure the issues others are having with the masa on top. when mixing the dough, it should be pretty firm, a bit dry but not crumbly. I am at high altitude and the liquid was perfect so maybe reduce the liquid a bit? not sure, but if you&#039;re hesitant about trying this recipe due to those reviews, I say go for it! It was delicious and a fantastic meal prep for the week.]]></description>

<p>I made this tonight, I put half the masa under the filling and half on top. I cooked it for 50 mins. It came out perfect. This will definitely be one to add to my repertoire. I took a picture but don&#8217;t see anywhere to link it</p>
